How did we experience the most spectacular LGBTQ cruise in the world? Next to RuPaul, Conchita Wurst and more.
A few months ago, our friends at Axel Hotels invited us to be part of the first LGBTQ cruise in Europe, the Open Sea Cruises x Axel. It will sail along the Mediterranean Sea and when we knew the entertainment on board included shows from RuPaul, Icona Pop, the Vengaboys, Loreen, Kazaky and Eurovision stars Elena Foureira and Conchita Wurst, we couldn’t say no at all.
We arrived with all expectations high up in the sky and we departed from the beautiful port of Barcelona last September 29th. Can you imagine a luxury cruise with 1200 passengers on board? All of them ready to celebrate pride, love and the freedom of truly being who we are.
On board, we experienced all type of parties and activities; we have never seen something like this before. To begin with, everyday there was a thematic party, for instance, when the sexy guys from Kazaky performed, we all wore leather and we all were in this kinky-cabaret atmosphere. The Vengaboys open up the 90’s party, RuPaul gave a such emotional speech before leading the White Party in Ibiza, and not to mention that we enjoyed the best LGBT events of Europe like GMF from berlin, Tanga! From Barcelona, NYX from Amsterdam and Gay Village all the way from Rome.
We stopped by the beautiful port cities of Ajaccio, Toulon, Palamós and Ibiza before coming back to beautiful Barcelona. We attended all the events that Open Sea Cruises x Axel has prepared for us. We got rid of that alcohol from the night before by attending all those amazing bachata, salsa, fitness, twerking and even catwalk lessons. We met guys and gals from all over the world on the famous speed dates which we have only seen before at movies. That was the perfect opportunity to make new friends and find love away from the digital world and new technologies, remember in a long time how human contact actually feels
The experience was indeed fantastic because we met all type of people and characters, men, women, gay people, straight people, all of them who were there only with one purpose, have fun in an LGBTQ friendly environment.
As RuPaul said when taking the stage, “We all are one and equal.” That was the same feeling that we all sensed during our journey; with unity, love and an endless party where we celebrated one of the most iconic events in 2018 for the LGBT community.
We would like to transmit to you the actual experience, but believe us, it is way better that you will personally experience it. After a big success of the first edition of this cruise, Axel Hotels will be soon announcing the 2019 edition of the best LGBT cruise in the world. So be alert!
