Lego is all over my newsfeed this week, and with good reason. The popular toy brand, based in Denmark, was snatching headlines left and right with the release of two trailers for it’s new movie The Lego Batman Movie, the sequel to the 2014 hit The Lego Movie. Will Arnett returns as the voice of the blocky caped-crusader and even pop diva supreme Mariah Carey lends her vocal talents to create the character Mayor Marion Grange. If the sequel is anything like the original, get ready for campy, fantastical fun.
Check out the trailers.
And, as if that isn’t enough, Disneyphiles all over the twitterverse had a collective head explosion with the announcement that Lego will be releasing Disney “minifigure” characters in May.
Each character will be sold for $3.99 beginning May 1st. The new line features the leaders of the club, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, along with favorites Donald and Daisy Duck, Ariel and Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Captain Hook and Peter Pan, Stitch, and Maleficent. 18 total characters for you to collect, decorate your work space, create stop motion Youtube videos, or to add to your already massive Lego/Disney collection. This could mean more partnership and collaboration between the two brands is imminent, which would be incredible. I mean, just imagine a Prince set featuring all the dreamy men like Prince Eric, Prince Naveen, and dreamy Flynn Ryder (Eugene Fitzherbert for you purists). Let’s not rule out Gaston either, ‘k Lego?
Be that blockhead and get you some!
